The Dugong & Seagrass Hub aims to establish a community hub for practitioners, researchers and coastal communities working on the conservation of seagrass ecosystems and dugongs.
It is an online platform designed to share tools, experiences and lessons learned from seagrass and dugong conservation efforts in over 40 dugong range states.
Project scope
The Dugong & Seagrass Hub was a new build for a project that was being coordinated by CMS Dugong MoU Secretariat. They were implementing a new grant funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) entitled the Seagrass Ecosystem Services Project. This work aimed to improve the conservation status of seagrass meadows and the biodiversity they support in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. It applied an innovative and holistic approach, working closely with field practitioners, coastal communities, and technical experts.
Project Outome
When these types of grants receive funding, they are always for a limited period. In this case until the end of 2023. Therefore the purpose of this website was not only to support this launch project, but also to continue acting as a hub for a range of similar projects. As a result, 3 more projects have been added since launch and with a creative templating system, the client as able to add new projects themselves and in effect save costs in the long run.
Having worked with Intex Digital some years ago we were confident they were the right match for building our new website. We had a clear idea of the content we wanted to include on our site but needed guidance and experience to bring a brand to life.
We love the design of the website and how easy all the content is to find. The website has had an overwhelming response from visitors and continues to act as a hub for experts working within this field.
